child delivery

Giving birth is beautiful, challenging, and overwhelming, and here at Dr. Kim’s office, we make it our mission to ensure you not only have all the information you need ahead of time to facilitate a healthy labor and birth but also step you and your loved ones through the experience when the time comes!

Every pregnancy, labor, and birth is different. Depending on your body, your baby, and your needs, Dr. Kim will create a plan and contingency plan with you as well.

Essentially, there are three ways to give birth: Vaginally, naturally, and through a cesarean section.

Child Delivery

Vaginal birth

The most common way to give birth is through the birth canal and vagina. You could experience spontaneous birth, induced birth, or assisted vaginal birth.

You should also be aware that there are other procedures that Dr. Kim may or may not employ to help ensure everything runs smoothly.

Fetal Monitoring: We will monitor the baby’s heart rate and look for signs of distress during labor.

Anesthesia: Many soon-to-be mothers use epidurals, regional anesthesia, or a variety of other options to help with the pain of labor.

Episiotomy: Although they are less common than they used to be, Dr. Kim may recommend an episiotomy, or an incision between the anus and vagina, to aid in delivery.

NICU: The NICU is always there if your baby needs extra care after being more. Neonatal intensive care units are prepared to look after your newborn and understand their needs.

At the end of the day, even if you have the perfect birth plan, things don’t always go how you expect. Therefore, it’s important that you understand everything that could happen.

Remember, we are here to help you feel safe, strong, and ready to give birth. Don’t hesitate to ask questions at your prenatal appointments about the process and what to expect, we have all the answers you need!

Another option is to plan to give birth completely naturally without any pain medications.

c-section

Surgical birth through a cesarean section may be planned ahead of time if your pregnancy is high-risk or processed during labor if there are complications.
